Our world will surely end if we, the self-proclaimed superior species on our planet, do not drastically face the truth about ourselves and dedicate ourselves to making some very major changes.
Our very nature is to be extremely voracious. We call it self-preservation and progress and so many more words we created to excuse our actions and avoid facing the truth about ourselves.
We are voracious consummate consumers...of everything. We have convinced ourselves that the things we desire are necessary when, in actuality, most of what we want are luxuries and not necessary to our life or our survival. We've convinced ourselves that we deserve it or that it is our inherent right to have all we desire.
We've lost track of what is really important. Keeping our planet healthy should be at the top of every person's list of things to do. Everything else falls below this. Without our planet, we are literally nothing--we cease to exist because we cannot exist on an unhealthy planet, a planet with toxic air, little fresh water, little food, no wildlife, no jungles and forests, not enough space for everyone, not enough housing for everyone.
All the immediate problems that are possible to end our existence are and will be a direct result of our irresponsibility and screwed-up priorities. In particular, the belief that having children is every person's divine right. IT IS NOT OUR DIVINE RIGHT. Having children is a serious responsibility and a privilege which we have abused and continue to abuse. By having too many children without thought of the dire consequences, we condemn ourselves to extinction.
This is a fact; not an opinion.
We are literally consuming ourselves out of house and home. It's like setting our homes on fire while we sit in the living room playing video games and eating steaks while we tell ourselves, "Not to worry; the firemen will be here to put out the fire." This is NeverNeverLand thinking.
As our population keeps growing, the pollution we create will cause climate change to happen faster, food and fresh water will be depleted more quickly, ever more wildlife and forests will be lost to make room for more humans. As resources are depleted faster and faster, violence will escalate to a horrific level.
And through all our trials and tribulations, we'll continue to hurry on our path of destruction by continuing to have more babies. No matter how destructive and desolate our world becomes, we will continue to have more babies even when there is barely enough food and water and space for the people who are already here.
We are a very sad species. We do what feels good even when it isn't right or beneficial.
We are a destructive species. We find a beautiful spot to live in. We move in. We begin to change that beautiful spot into an ugly polluted place filled with people, buildings, vehicles. We destroy everything natural and build unnatural structures to please ourselves. We should be keeping the environment as natural as possible. We should not be overwhelming and destroying nature with the weight of humanity. The natural world, the world as it was, is the reason humanity was able to flourish.
Every day, everything we do destroys more of the natural world. The natural world is what we need above all else to survive. We have not yet learned to truly appreciate this fact, to respect it, and to cherish it. The very thing we need to survive, we are destroying.
WE ARE COMMITTING SUICIDE, GENOCIDE. We are bringing about the end of humanity.
If we control our population growth and lower our total population worldwide, we give our planet a chance to heal from the damage we've done so far. If we do this one thing, we can insure the future of our species. This is the One Sure Thing we can do that's within our power to do. We can begin immediately and it won't cost us a penny. This one thing is something every person on this planet can do.
We just have to want to do it. We have to admit that we need to do it.
Or are we too selfish? Too weak? Too irresponsible? Too blind?
I don't believe that no one else sees this as clearly as I do. But it's something that everyone needs to see and admit. It's the only way to save our planet and our future as a species. If we do this, we can give us a chance and the time to undo all the damage we've done so far.
How about you? Do you have the courage, the intelligence, and the desire to save humanity and our world?
